As well as "chibi" is an artistic resource used in the manga/animé to highlight comic situations, there is also a resource to highlight (large) reprimands.

No official name for this resource (or at least not yet), but whenever a character wants to give him a scolding another, this situation is highlighted temporarily making a giant (or only his/her head, similar to "chibi") and showing his angry face.
